Nice article. Some needles are also made to "hurt" less and are even called the "pain free" needle.

Dear Braxton,
Thanks for your thoughtful examination of this perplexing issue. I remain skeptical as you are, yet paranoid at the same time! I am sort of a borderline person as far as immunity is concerned, but have not had the flu shot in years. I have had the flu more than once. In my particular case, I guess I'd rather risk the flu than risk getting Guillain Barre syndrome which a friend of mine had. She nearly died and suffers long term effects from the whole debacle. Anyway, thanks for your research, ideas and sharing.

The vast majority of people who experience sciatica find pain relief without any surgical treatment, mostly recovering spontaneously, depending on the symptoms they have. Recovery or the healing process commonly takes place within a few days or weeks. Patients are medically advised to rest for a short period; are limited from some activities and anti-inflammatory medication is prescribed.

Non-surgical treatments almost always include some form of stretching and strengthening exercise with its goal to relief sciatic pain and prevent the symptoms of reoccurring.Pilates is the most generally used stretching and strengthening exercise, a treatment that is often prescribed by physiotherapists.

Pilates is stretching exercises that focuses on strengthening of the core muscles in your back and your stomach, relieving the symptoms and pain caused by sciatica. Strengthening of these muscles does not only avoid and reduce back pain and strain; it also improves your posture. A good posture is plays a very important role in maintaining a healthy back.

Very good info on the sciatica and back surgery.
Concerning my knee problem. I went to Lance for a physical therapy evaluation a couple weeks ago as it seemed slow in healing completely although getting better little by little. He felt the knee was basically sound although I strained it back then and tore up 10% or so of the fibers on that inside medial ligament. I was incouraged to stretch it more to restore full range of movement which helped, but basically this type of injury takes 8 weeks to heal and it is now almost completely healed on schedule.
